A paper from our laboratory has been published in the American Chemical Society (ACS) journal, Chem & Bio Engineering. This research was conducted as part of flow assurance in the project of subsea methane hydrate development. The effects of various methane hydrate inhibitors were visually observed and clarified using an originally developed apparatus capable of parallel testing under high pressure. This paper was co-authored with Konno Laboratory of the University of Tokyo and Energy Process Research Institute of AIST. The paper is Open Access.
A paper has been published in the journal Crystal Growth & Design, published by the American Chemical Society! This is the result of joint research by Yokohama National University, Panasonic Corporation, Osaka University, and Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI).
In this paper, the crystal structure of TBAB hydrate (TBAB-26H₂O), a heat storage material used for air conditioning, etc., was clarified by high-precision X-ray diffraction experiments at SPring-8, a large synchrotron radiation facility in Hyogo Prefecture. It has been a mystery for more than 80 years since its first discovery in 1940, hindering material and process development and thermal design. This achievement is expected to help in the structural design of hydrate materials and the development of next-generation energy-saving technologies.
