We were delighted to welcome Professor Kyuchul Shin from Kyungpook National University to our laboratory!
During his visit, we hosted an online seminar connecting Prof. Shin with hydrate researchers across Japan. He delivered an inspiring lecture on clathrate hydrates formed with guest molecules that strongly interact with the host water framework, such as ammonium salts and methanol.
The session led to fruitful and enthusiastic discussions among all participants. We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration to advance hydrate research together!
Honored to give an invited lecture at Kyungpook National University. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Prof. Kyuchul Shin for organizing this wonderful opportunity and for his warm hospitality. It was also a great pleasure to see Dr. Seong-Pil Kang from KIER and Prof. Yongwon Seo from UNIST, who joined the lecture. I truly enjoyed the insightful discussions with such leading experts in the Korean hydrate research community.
A paper from our lab has been published in Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data with ACS! This paper reports phase equilibrium data regarding new semiclathrate hydrates which are expected for gas capture and storage materials.
Mr. Junkyu Lim, a PhD student in Prof. Yongwon Seo group at UNIST, Korea, visited us. Welcome to us, Junkyu! Let’s make a big collaboration research together!
A paper has been published in the journal Crystal Growth & Design, published by the American Chemical Society! This is the result of joint research by Yokohama National University, Panasonic Corporation, Osaka University, and Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI).
In this paper, the crystal structure of TBAB hydrate (TBAB-26H₂O), a heat storage material used for air conditioning, etc., was clarified by high-precision X-ray diffraction experiments at SPring-8, a large synchrotron radiation facility in Hyogo Prefecture. It has been a mystery for more than 80 years since its first discovery in 1940, hindering material and process development and thermal design. This achievement is expected to help in the structural design of hydrate materials and the development of next-generation energy-saving technologies.
